Teaching and Learning in Elementary School: Classroom Instruction and Full-Day Care

How do taste preferences develop? What does sustainable nutrition mean? And how can we get children excited about healthy food?
The Elective Course kinder.kulinarik.lern.weg combines nutrition education with practical culinary skills and pedagogical application.
Students gain a basic understanding of Nutrition, sustainability, food labeling, and allergies and intolerances. In the cooking workshop, students learn practical skills in food preparation, hygiene, and organization. A specialization focuses on planning and carrying out their own nutrition project for an elementary school or after-school care program.
Who can participate?
This elective is designed for all undergraduate and graduate students in Primary Education who wish to guide children toward a daily eating routine that is enjoyable, promotes health, and is sustainable.

Admission Requirement
- Completed bachelor’s degree in Primary Education (240 ECTS credits) OR
- Completion of a six-semester bachelor’s degree program in Primary Education (180 ECTS credits), including successful completion of the supplementary program* worth 60 ECTS credits, as an admission requirement for the master’s degree program in Primary Education, or
- Completion of a six-semester degree program in elementary school teaching, with additional training leading to a BEd degree, including successful completion of the extension program* worth 60 ECTS credits as an admission requirement for the Master’s program in Primary Education.
* It is no longer possible to enroll in the extension program.
