Do you have a college degree and professional experience, and would you like to share your knowledge with young people?

This teacher education program (Bachelor of Education, BEd) qualifies you to teach theoretical subjects at intermediate and upper vocational schools (BMHS) in the following occupational fields:

  • Economy, Society, and Social Affairs, as well as Applied Economics
  • Engineering and Skilled Trades
  • Applied Chemistry and Biotechnology
  • Tourism, Hospitality, and Food
  • Service
  • Health, Exercise, Nutrition, and Beauty
  • Art, Design, and Creative Arts
  • Information and Communication Technology
  • Construction and Related Trades

Requirements

As an expert in your field, you bring a high level of theoretical and practical expertise to this bachelor’s program, thanks to your completed tertiary degree in the relevant field and at least three years of professional experience in that field. Your prior learning will be recognized in the form of 120 ECTS credits.

You must be currently employed as a teacher to be eligible to apply for the program.

Program Overview

Gaining knowledge in subject-specific pedagogy, practical subject skills, and educational science will enable you to provide professional guidance to your students.

A key advantage of this in-service teacher education program is the close integration of theory and practice. You’ll have the opportunity to discuss and reflect on questions and experiences from your day-to-day teaching with your fellow students and instructors, as well as to apply the content of your comprehensive theoretical training directly in the classroom.

Finding the Right Balance Between Work and School

You work as a teacher at your home school and, at the same time, are pursuing a four-semester degree program, for which one day per week is generally set aside for classes.

The program is structured in such a way that it can be easily balanced with professional obligations. It combines on-campus classes, online instruction, and independent study.

An admissions process must be completed for the “Supplementary Bachelor’s Program in Subject-Specific Studies.”
