Week under the theme “Sustainability in Education.” The week brought together faculty and staff from three continents—Europe, Asia, and Africa—for a program focused on sustainable teacher education and intercultural exchange. \u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Partner institutions from Spain, Portugal, Poland, Lithuania, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, and Turkey represented the European network, while colleagues from Thailand, India, and Kazakhstan joined from Asia. South Africa contributed the African perspective. Together, these international guests shared research, teaching practices, and ideas across disciplines—and were given the opportunity to present their own lectures, projects, and institutional experiences, offering valuable insights into educational systems from different parts of the world.  \u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>The week began on Monday with a guided city tour of Innsbruck, giving our international guests a first impression of the Tyrolean capital. Over the following days, guest lectures covered topics ranging from AI in education and biodiversity to multilingual learning, sustainable bio-business, and project-based learning for responsible consumption. \u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>\u003Cstrong>Hands-on workshops by PH Tirol\u003C\u002Fstrong>\u003Cbr \u002F>\n Particularly memorable were the practical contributions from PH Tirol itself. Wolfgang Zangerl invited participants to a bee workshop at the campus, where guests visited the campus hives and learned about beekeeping and the importance of bees for biodiversity and sustainable education. Stephan Walch then delighted the group with a special cheese tasting, paired with fresh honey from the campus hives and homemade honey ice cream. Stefanie Albert took participants on a culinary world tour, preparing dumplings from around the globe – from Austrian Schlutzkrapfen to Asian variations. Cooking regional Tyrolean specialties together with Peter Mitterer has long been a beloved highlight of our international weeks, and this year was no exception. The program also featured a chocolate tasting workshop, and evenings were rounded off with the “Radlkino”, a bicycle-powered cinema.     \u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>The academic program was complemented by visits to a kindergarten, the affiliated primary school (Affiliated primary school) and the affiliated secondary school (Affiliated secondary school) of PH Tirol, a Gallery Walk featuring partner universities, and a special Green Event Day that included an intercultural brunch and the planting of an international garden with seeds brought from the participants’ home countries.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>\u003Cstrong>Voices from Our Participants\u003C\u002Fstrong>\u003Cbr \u002F>\n\u003Cem>“The program was thoughtfully designed and struck a perfect balance between academic exchange, professional development, intercultural learning, and opportunities for informal networking. One of the greatest strengths of Staff Week was undoubtedly the international community that gathered in Innsbruck. This semester, ten lecturers from Poland, Germany, Latvia, Belgium, Portugal, and Norway took part, enriching the program with their expertise and diverse perspectives and inspiring the university’s academic community. The program of events included a variety of engaging and informative lectures on current topics in pedagogy and education. Key topics included “The Digital Kindergarten,” “Social Exclusion of Young People,” “The Multilingual Classroom,” “Internationalization of Teacher Training,” “Evaluation in Educational Contexts,” and “Promoting Critical Thinking”. These events provided valuable insights for teaching practice and fostered professional exchange. Lecturers from the PHT also shared their expertise, thereby contributing to the diversity and quality of the program. In addition to knowledge transfer, International Week focused in particular on networking and exchange between the partner universities. The informal and friendly atmosphere fostered cooperation and dialogue not only during the lectures but also during other program activities. The “Intercultural Brunch,” which traditionally takes place during International Week, was also a popular event this year, contributing to greater cultural understanding and more in-depth exchange. A visit to the affiliated elementary and middle schools provided a deeper understanding of the Austrian education system. The international guests gained valuable insights into teaching practices and the school philosophy in Austria. The supporting program also offered the opportunity to explore the city of Innsbruck in a relaxed and sociable atmosphere. A city tour of Innsbruck and shared meals created opportunities for informal dialogue and strengthened the group dynamic. A cultural highlight was a visit to the musical “Hair,” which not only provided entertainment but also contributed to the participants’ cultural development. Thanks to the positive group dynamics and dedicated exchange, International Week was a complete success. New partnerships were forged, and existing contacts with European universities were strengthened. The event provided both the guest lecturers and the PHT with a valuable opportunity for international collaboration and knowledge transfer.
